Tisha Powell is an American anchor and reporter working at WAFB. She has been working for the station since joining in August 2021. She previously worked at ABC 11 where she served as an anchor from August 2004 to July 2021.

Powell serves as an anchor and reporter at WAFB-TV. She previously worked for ABC 11 Eyewitness- WTVD where she served as a news anchor and reporter from August 2004 to July 2021. Prior to her tenure at ABC11, she previously worked for News 9 San Antonio where she served as a news anchor and reporter from 2002 to 2004.

Before that, she spent about 2 years and 1 month working at KABB Fox 29 TV where she served as a reporter. From 1997 to 2000, she worked for WDSU where she served as a reporter. Prior to that, she worked for WCBI-TV for about 1 year and served as a reporter. Powell is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans. There, she majored in minored in political science and broadcast news.

In 2005, Powell reported on the destructive Hurricane Katrina. She also covered the Carolina Panther’s trip to Super Bowl 50, and the visit of the Pope to Philadelphia. In addition to that, she interviewed people with influence, like Oprah Winfrey and First Lady Michelle Obama. In Laurinburg, North Carolina, Tisha jumped with the Army Golden Knights Parachute Team.

Powell is also an active volunteer of support, to the USO of North Carolina, and the American Heart Association, the Girl Scouts. Also, she is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., as well as the Triangle Park Chapter of The Links, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.
