Basil John is an American Correspondent/Anchor/Reporter working with KX News at Nexstar Media Group serving the station as a Washington Correspondent. He has been working with the station since January 2020.

Basil attended Iona Preparatory School, where he competed in speech and debate competitions, which sparked his interest in public speaking. The award-winning journalist began his career working as a reporter/anchor for WWAY News located in Wilmington, North Carolina. There, he was covering stories such as the chemical GenX in the drinking water and Hurricane Florence.
In the month of November 2019, he joined WRIC Channel 8 News located in Richmond, Virginia where he was serving the station as a morning reporter and fill-in anchor. There, he was covering breaking news almost every morning and reporting on the Governor Ralph Northam black face scandal and the Gun Rights rally in Richmond.
John is a New Yorker from the city of New Rochelle and attended Iona Preparatory School where he was participating in speech and debate competitions. This led to an interest in presenting in front of others. His love for delivering stories took him to Stony Brook UNiversty’s Journalism School in Long Island where he received a degree in Journalism with a concentration in public affairs and a minor in political science.
While he was at Stony Brook, he learned the ins and outs of journalism and was presented with many opportunities. This was as he was interning for CBS News in New York in its broadcast marketing department. While in Washington, he takes his experience in community-driven journalism to tell stories that matter to the people affected. Away from work, he spends time singing, training his parrot, Laddu, and gaming.
