Douglass started his broadcasting career in 1983 in Jackson at WDXI-AM where he worked as an on-air personality. There, he met his future 7 Eyewitness News colleague, Tom Britt. He worked in radio for a decade and had stops at various stations in West Tennessee. Notably, he served WZDQ-FM in Jackson where he met his future 7 Eyewitness News colleague, Gary Pickens.
During his career, he has co-hosted numerous telethons for the West Tennessee Cerebral Palsy Center, the Children’s Miracle Network telethons, and The Circles of Hope telethon. He believes that the work of journalists is to inform, brief, and in other cases entertain the viewers. However, he says it’s the viewers who decide how they feel about the matter impacting them.
