Brandon Pennel is an American meteorologist working for News 9 where he serves as a Storm Tracker who joined the network in August 2019. He began his storm-chasing career in 2001 spring witnessing nine states’ tornadoes.

Having had a great passion for weather since a young age, Pennel graduated from high school in Cushing in 2000. He began chasing storms after the May 3, 1999, tornado after watching the power of it, he knew at that moment that he wanted to chase. Pennel began his storm-chasing career in 2001 spring witnessing nine states’ tornadoes. Being both a Moore resident since 2002 and an Oklahoma native, he has a great experience with the effects of mother nature.
Protecting his family and his fellow Oklahomans is his major emphasis in his daily life routine. During his free time, he takes part in youth sports and also volunteers in coaching one of his three daughter’s travel softball teams. Additionally, he operates and owns a construction company that mainly focuses on residential carpentry. Aside from storm chasing, he also loves watching football, hunting, fishing, and to fellowship with several family members and friends.
