Castor is working for News 9 where she serves as a StormTracker. She has been tenured at the network for more than two decades and she is an Oklahoma native. Having been raised in Mangum, she gained a great love for weather at a young age. The wide open plains offered much in the way of viewing storms. Additionally, he also has a great interest in electronics and computers. She attended Oklahoma State University majoring in Electrical Engineering Technology.
There she graduated with a minor in Computer Science. Later in 1998, she began planning a weather-related project for school. It was there that she met Val Castor, the Senior StormTracker for NEWS 9. Later that year she was hired as a StormTracker for News 9. There she first met with Val Castor, whom they later teamed up with personally and professionally to film and report over 300 tornadoes.
Some of their experiences include the May 3, 1999, F5 tornadoes, that had happened a month earlier prior to their wedding. The two have reported together since then including the May 20, 2013 tornado in Moore, the May 24, 2011, El Reno tornado, and the 2.6-mile-wide historical tornado near El Reno on May 31, 2013. Reporting live from the field, she was made responsible for sending live videos, helping Val navigate, and shooting tornado footage.
Amy and Val were also featured on several radio and television productions both internationally and nationally including BBC, CNN, CBS, The Learning Channel, National Geographic, History Channel, Weather Channel, the Discovery Channel, and many others. During her free time, she is an active member at Bible Baptist Church in Stillwater. She also loves to homeschool her kids. Additionally, she and Val enjoy finding it a privilege to serve Oklahomans at NEWS 9.
