Brendan Johnson Biography

Brendan Johnson is an American meteorologist working for WTMJ as a forecaster on weekend mornings on TMJ4 and throughout the week since joining the station in September 2022. Previously, he worked for WMTV (NBC15) in Madison for two years and at KHBS/KHOG-TV (40/29 News) in Fort Smith-Fayetteville, Arkansas for 3 years.

Johnson joined Valparaiso University in 2013 when he finished his high school education. In 2017, he graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Meteorology and a Digital Media minor. During his time in college, she heavily involved himself with the campus television station.

Johnson partook in a Convective Field Study which made him travel over 3,000 miles in pursuit of storms across the Plains. Also, he held internships at WTVO in Rockford, CNN Worldwide in Atlanta, and WGN in Chicago where he had the chance to work with Chief Meteorologist Tom Skilling.

During his time at NBC15, he forecasted Midwest weather and witnessed everything including snowstorms, snow squalls, and Summer thunderstorms. He was on the air when the EF-3 Boscobel tornado tore through SW Wisconsin in August 2021.

Familiar with tornadoes and severe weather, Johnson worked with a team that broadcasted an EF-2 tornado that tore through Mountainburg while he was working at 40/29 in NW Arkansas. Also, he covered the ruin in the following days.

Johnson forecasted the rapid downpours in the Spring of 2019 and was on the scene in Fort Smith as the city faced multiple bridge closures due to a violent river. He covered two large barges that meandered down the river towards the Webbers Falls Lock & Dam.
