Brian Taff Biography
Brian Taff is an American news anchor who works as the co-anchor of Action News at 4 pm and Action News at 10. Additionally, he contributes special reports to all editions of Action News. Taff joined the station in October 2009.
Brian Taff Career
Since joining 6abc, Taff’s reporting assignments have taken him to every corner of the Tri-State area, and around the world. He traveled to Florida and Alabama when the massive BP oil spill threatened the coast of the southern United States to show viewers the stunning images. When the Catholic Church started the process of electing a new Pope, Taff spent weeks in Rome, Italy bringing Action News inside the age-old traditions of the Vatican.
He was invited to the White House for an exclusive conversation with the President in the historic Cabinet Room when President Obama saw his first term bogged down by souring polls. Taff’s career has also taken him to the race track to test drive cars with the experts at Consumer Reports and flying at speeds higher than 700mph and forces greater than 9Gs with the US Air Force Thunderbirds.
Before arriving at Action News, he served as anchor and editor of Capital Tonight, a nightly news and interview show watched all across upstate New York. In the role, he covered news of statewide importance and conducted live, long-form interviews with every major newsmaker and politician in New York State, winning the Associated Press Award for “Best Interview” for two consecutive years. As an anchor of Capital Tonight, he broadcast live from across the country, including from the National Political Conventions in 2004, and 2008.
Before hosting Capital Tonight, he worked served as a weekend reporter and anchor at Capital News 9 in Albany, New York. He started his career in broadcast journalism at WVII-TV in Bangor, Maine.
