Gray Hall Biography

Gray Hall is an American two-time Emmy Award-winning Anchor/Reporter for 6abc Action News. He joined the station in December 2015.

Gray Hall Career

Prior to 6abc, Hall worked at WWBT-TV in Richmond, Virginia, where he anchored the highest-rated weekday morning newscast for five years and was as well a reporter for the station’s “On Your Side” consumer franchise. She did not only deliver the news but also educate the community about the latest scams and frauds. He as well had the opportunity to be an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Prior to joining WWBT-TV, he served as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WTVJ in Miami, Florida. While at WTVJ, he covered a number of major stories that included Fidel Castro’s resignation as Cuba’s president and the Miami mortgage foreclosure crisis. Additionally, Hall spent four years at WCBD-TV in Charleston, South Carolina, where he worked as the weekend anchor/reporter.

Hall started his broadcasting career as a production assistant for KTVT, the CBS affiliate in Dallas, Texas. He did his first on-air job shortly after at WABG in Greenville, Mississippi. He was a “one-man band” and also the weekend anchor. Hall shot, edited, wrote, and produced his own stories and newscasts.

Hall attended Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana where he earned his bachelor’s degree. While in college, Hall played tennis and was a member of the Melton Foundation. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and the National Association of Black Journalists. During his free time, Hall enjoys fishing, traveling, and watching movies. He is looking forward to getting to know viewers on social media and out in the community.

Gray Hall Medical Emergency

On October 22, 2017, Gray was rushed to the hospital after feeling dizzy and lightheaded while on-air and he had to undergo emergency surgery. At the hospital, they had discovered he had a colloid cyst on his brain that needed immediate attention. The cyst had grown and was blocking fluid inside his brain from freely draining, which increased pressure. The surgery went well but he still had to remain at the hospital for about two weeks due to bacterial meningitis.
