Byron Tollefson Biography

Byron Tollefson is an American News Anchor working for WOOD TV8 as a general assignment reporter. He joined the station in January 2022. Previously, he served KTTC in Rochester, MN as a Morning anchor since joining the station in July 2019. He has a family connection to Minnesota but Boston has always been his home. Tollefson’s father grew up in the Minneapolis area.

Tollefson attended Syracuse University where he graduated in May of 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism. While at SU, Tollefson worked as a reporter for CitrusTV. He as well covered local and national elections as a political correspondent. In the Spring of 2018, he interned for NBC Nightly News in Los Angeles while taking classes.

Tollefson worked alongside national correspondents and producers, helping with research, writing, and field production. That summer, Tollefson interned at NBC10 Boston. He assisted photographers out in the field, wrote stories for air, and interviewed subjects on assignment. Tollefson is very happy to call Rochester home. When he is not working, he likes running, playing basketball, or watching sports.

Tollefson left KTTC in July 2021 after working for the station for 2 years. While there, he served the station as an anchor, producer, and multimedia journalist. Further, he anchored and produced the weekday morning shows from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and Today Show cut-ins from 7:25 a.m. to 9 a.m. Also, he reported for noon and nightly newscasts
