Carissa Lawson is an American journalist of African descent who previously worked for News 12 New Jersey as a morning news anchor for more than a decade. She left the station in June 2023 after serving the station since February 2011.

She received nominations for two Emmys for “Best Breaking News Coverage” and her special Arts/Entertainment stories.
Lawson attained an Associated Press Award for feature reporting and served among a team that secured an Edward R. Murrow Award for best newscast and the fancied Service to America Award. She and her morning program team attained the NY Press Club Award for Breaking News. Also, they received the NJ Society of Professional Journalists Award for Best Newscast. Additionally, she attained the Outstanding Community Service Award for her dedication to community service as a news anchor.
After graduating college, she attained the James Fenimore Cooper Memorial Prize, annually presented to the most notable undergraduate student of journalism. The Kappa Tau Alpha National Honor Society inducted her into their Journalism and Mass Communication.
