Carson Vickroy Biography

Carson Vickroy is an American Meteorologist working with KETK News/Nexstar Media Group where he was serving the station as a Morning Meteorologist. He has been working with the East Texas Storm Team since October 2019.

Vickroy competed in cross country and track throughout his middle and high school years. He earned his B.S. in Meteorology from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Carson was a division I athlete for the University’s track and cross-country teams while at KU.

Vickroy works with KETK News where he serves the station as a Morning Meteorologist. From a young age, he knew he wanted to be a meteorologist. Texas’s severe thunderstorms, hurricanes, and ice storms piqued his interest in science. Throughout his childhood, Carson would spend hours watching the Weather Channel during major storms.

He had no idea that his two loves would collide at a summer track meet in West Texas. The skies darkened as a storm approached after the mile race in the afternoon. Carson noticed a strange cloud in the shape of a funnel as he drove away. A tornado was reported on the radio a few miles from his location seconds later! This only fueled his enthusiasm for meteorology.

He joined us as a weekend meteorologist and weekday reporter from KBZK and KXLF in Bozeman, Montana. Also worked as a meteorology intern at WFAA-TV in Dallas, TX, and KSNT in Topeka, KS, and as a fill-in meteorologist at 6NEWS in Lawrence, KS. Carson coined the social media handle world’s fastest weatherman on Facebook, influenced by his cross-country and track and field career.

Carson is excited to take on the task of forecasting in East Texas. He can be found running on Tyler’s trails, tracks, and streets when he’s not forecasting the weather. He also enjoys being outside and looks forward to the fly fishing, hiking, and hunting opportunities available in East Texas.
