Cecilia Gutierrez is an American meteorologist working for KRGV as a meteorologist, anchor, and reporter since joining the station in July 2017. Upon joining the station, she initially worked as a reporter, broadcasting stories across the valley.

Gutierrez joined the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio in 2012 after finishing her studies at McAllen High School. In 2017, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology. While in college, she worked as the captain of the school’s fencing team, receiving n NCAA Division I regional qualification in Sabre.

Gutierrez actively served the marching band as the school’s first female drum major for three years. Additionally, she served as the principal oboe player for two years in the university’s wind ensemble, earning several awards for leadership and musicianship.

She grew up watching Channel 5 and is thrilled to be home contributing to the news team.

Gutierrez enjoys giving back to the community and credits a big chunk of her volunteer work in college to her sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha(ΑΣΑ). Through ΑΣΑ, she worked as the vice president of alumnae and heritage and the University’s Panhellenic council. In 2017, she was nationally acknowledged as one of Alpha Sigma Alpha’s 30 under 30 up-and-coming women in society.

Besides broadcasting, she volunteers as a math and science teacher. She also keeps up with her musical roots by volunteering with McAllen High School’s marching band during the fall. She focused her volunteer work on empowering young ladies to become interested in the fields of math and science.
