Kristine Galvan Biography

Kristine Galvan is an American journalist who has been working for KRGV as a news reporter since joining the station in November 2017. She joined the station from Dallas/Fort Worth to help debut a newscast on 5.2 Somos El Valle and manage KRGV’s Investigative Unit.

She joined the station in time for broadcasting the murder lawsuit of former priest John Feit. She is no stranger to the Rio Grande Valley, having served the station as a reporter for 5 years before joining FOX Houston as a reporter in 2005.

During her first tenure at KRGV, Galvan covered and broke several national-interest stories, including the partial collapse of the Queen Isabella (Memorial) Causeway, the terror-related arrest of Farida Ahmed near the border, the murder of Mexico’s former top drug cop in McAllen, and a cyanide truck hijacking in Mexico. She also went to Arizona to face John Feit about the killing of Irene Garza. John received a 14-year sentence after Galvan won her first TAPB Investigative Reporting Award for her work on the case.

Galvan worked for FOX in Houston as a reporter for ten years. Despite spending a decade in Houston, the Valley was always on her mind. The Brooks County native often returned to the Valley to broadcast immigration and border security issues and delivered reports during Hurricane Dolly and other tropical storms. She also won an Emmy, reported for the FOX Television Stations Group and Fox News Channel on the network’s request, and helped anchor a six-hour-long morning newscast.

Galvan refused a contract offer to remain in Houston, relocating to Dallas/Fort Worth to be closer to her nieces. Briefly after, her youngest niece was diagnosed with pediatric hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She remained in the region until her niece underwent open heart surgery at 23 months old and recuperated. She then returned to KRGV to help debut a newscast on 5.2 Somos El Valle and manage KRGV’s Investigative Unit. She plans to participate in local efforts promoting pediatric heart awareness.
