Ironmonger joined the University of Washington after finishing his high school education. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. During his time in college, he worked as an intern at the National Weather Service and KOMO News in downtown Seattle.

During his time in Seattle, he worked as a guest teacher at local elementary schools, revamped the weather portion of NOAA’s annual Science Camp, and helped collect funds for children with special needs. He is very eager to continue his community service in eastern North Carolina. Also, he is thrilled to experience everything in Eastern Carolina culture, from the culinary arts to ECU football.
