Chris Maathuis is an American Anchor/Director working with KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada Area as a Sports Anchor/Director since February 1997. He kick-started his broadcasting career working with KIFI-TV.

Maathuis works with KLAS-TV where he serves the station as a Sports Anchor/Director. He is a proud graduate of the University of Utah. Chris began his career working with KSEE radio where he was serving the station as a news and sports director. Additionally, he was also providing play-by-play for Harding University. He rose to fame in the “land of opportunity” after an interview with then-Gov. Gill Clinton.
Maathuis broadcasting career brought him back to Salt Lake City for about seven years where he won numerous broadcasting awards for news and sports coverage. He was the voice of the Weber State Wildcats in the 80s and also covered the Utah Jazz.
Later on, he moved on to join KIFI-TV where he received awards for the state’s best local sports coverage. Additionally, he moved to upstate New York’s WBNG-TV where he won the state awards for sports coverage and the best single sports story on Kentucky Derby winner Exterminator.
While at WBNG, he also covered the Jets, the Mets, Giants, Syracuse, and Penn State. He later moved to Las Vegas in order to help KLAS where he was leading the sports department in its continued domination of the market. His coverage of high school sports such as Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts, and UNLV, among other sporting events stayed unmatched in Las Vegas. He is an Emmy-Award-Winning sportscaster who is also the host of the award-winning UNLV Game Time basketball and football coaches show.
