Chris Thomasson is an American Sports Director working at KIII-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas. He joined the station in December 2014 after working as a weekend sports anchor at KSWO-TV.

Thomasson got his high school education at Katy High School in Katy, Texas. While he was there, he was able to see the Katy Tigers come away with a 5A state championship. This passion for high school football was developed during these years and even after graduation. He later joined the University of Texas in the same year of 2003. He immediately got accepted to the Texas Student Television station (then KVR), the only student-owned and operated station with the FCC license during his freshman year of college.
During his four years in the school, Thomasson volunteered a lot of time to the station and became the Sports Director. One of his accomplishments that he leans with pride is when he was commentating for the Longhorns baseball featuring a young Nebraska Cornhuskers’ Joba Chamberlain, in Austin.

Thomasson assumed the position of Sports Director at KIII-TV in December 2014 succeeding Dan McReynolds, who retired. His role is to write, produce, and edit daily 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. sportscasts. Before being promoted to sports director in December 2014, he worked as a weekend sports anchor where he shot and reported on the majority of the sports department’s stories and highlights during the week. He also covered the Astros’ spring training in Kissimmee, FL, and the Texans’ training camp.
Before moving back to his home state of Texas, he worked for two years as a weekend sports anchor with KSWO-TV in Lawton Oklahoma. The change from the state of Texas to Oklahoma was a real growing moment for him. He also significantly considers himself a sports analyst localized in the studio for local games. Well if he is not observing games, then you might easily notice him walking on the beach or even watching a movie.
Notably, in the past, Thomasson said if he was not doing commentaries, he’d be a sports film critic, which shows his love for the two professions. Being an Astros nut, he loves to work on high school baseball power and the Hooks teams. Other than sports Thomasson values his time most with his family.
