Cody Boyer is an American journalist working for WLUC as an evening anchor since joining the station in November 2021. Previously, he worked in Bozeman, Montana as a senior reporter, evening anchor, and multimedia journalist at KBZK / KXLF for nearly three years.

Boyer joined Northern Michigan University in 2009 when he finished his high school education. In 2014, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Media Production and New Technology concentrating on Multimedia Journalism.
While in college, he leaned towards journalism after working at WNMU TV13’s “Public Eye News” and The North Wind campus newspaper. He was an anchor, producer, and director at PEN. Further, he worked as a sports editor at The North Wind before he was promoted to editor-in-chief in 2014. He was also a producer and DJ for a radio show on NMU’s “Radio X.”

Boyer works for WLUC as an evening anchor on TV6. Previously, he worked in Bozeman, Montana as a senior reporter, evening anchor, and multimedia journalist at KBZK / KXLF for nearly three years. There, he sat with journalism greats like Donna Kelley and Chet Layman on the anchor desk and spearheaded the field broadcasting various topics. He also gained multiple top awards like two E.B. Craney Awards for breaking and hard news broadcasts.
Boyer alongside Donna Kelley and Chet Layman won “Bozeman’s Best Anchor” in 2020 and 2021. In 2020, he participated in the unforgettable broadcast of Ted Kaczinski/“The Unabomber.” Additionally, he was the first reporter to interview Ed Sprout, a semi-truck driver who eluded over 25 years of cameras after towing the Unabomber’s cabin from Montana to California.
In Bozeman, Boyer regularly broadcast wildland fires after wearing wildland fire gear and orange vests in the Bozeman region including the Bridger Foothills Fire that ruined nearly 70 homes in early-September 2020. In 2022, he won “Bozeman’s Best News Writer” before he returned to Upper Michigan.
Boyer was also an exotic animal rehabilitator volunteer in Montana. In this role, he rescued reptiles and other pets from badly maintained circumstances. Further, he regularly visited the backcountry trails of Yellowstone National Park.
Before Montana, Boyer worked in Cadillac, Michigan as a reporter and anchor at 9&10 News. There, he broadcasted multiple counties and told dozens of stories all over Michigan’s Northern Lower Peninsula. He also won multiple Michigan Association of Broadcaster awards for his broadcasts.
Boyer is particularly proud of meeting and interviewing “The Great One” Wayne Gretzky after the passing away of hockey legend Gordie Howe. In 2016, he closely followed the presidential election, interviewed numerous candidates, and frequented dozens of presidential rallies.
Boyer was on the ground during the climax of the Flint Water disaster, broadcasting its effects in the communities all over Genesee County and animal shelters fighting lead-contaminated water. He is the first reporter to venture into and report from the inside a Rainbow Family Gathering in Manistee County in 2015 after traveling by way of a potato truck into the Manistee National Forest in Wexford County.
