Danny Mata is an American Sports Anchor/ Reporter working for KRDO NewsChannel 13. Previously, he worked in Houston, where he was a sports reporter and producer for KRIV-TV.
Additionally, he served as sports director at KRDO’s sister station in El Paso, Texas: KVIA-TV. He joined KRDO to replace Nick Rothschild, who had departed to take a position at ABC affiliate KM. He had also worked at News 92 FM in Houston.
Mata knew what he wanted to do when he was 4 years old. His greatest passion is play-by-play and he prides himself on his preparation and delivery. He is the creator and host of the Open Field Tackle podcast. A native of San Diego, Mata is a self-described nerd of the newsroom.
