Darci Strickland is an American journalist working for WLTX as a co-anchor of Friends at Five, which she developed with Andrea Mock in August 2007. Additionally, she co-anchors the 6 p.m. broadcast with J.R. Berry, anchors the noon broadcast, and frequently works on special assignments. She joined the station in 1997 as a general assignment reporter and has served the station for more than 2 decades.

Strickland was always that she wanted to work in a communication career. She has been a household name in the Midlands due to her love of people, contagious smile, and devotion to the community. These qualities have made her a sought-after speaker by schools, charitable firms, churches, and other associations statewide.
Strickland serves Buddy Call 19 as the main spokesperson. In this role, she persuades women to do self-breast examinations. She also acknowledges educators through her work leading WLTX’s Teacher of the Week awards. During her career, Strickland has won several awards for her journalism including Emmys, an Alfred I. DuPont Award, and a Murrow Award.
In 2019, she was a fellow of the University of South Carolina Media Law School. That same year, she won the South Carolina Broadcaster’s Association Anchor of the Year award. She was named South Carolina Broadcaster’s Association TV Personality of the Year in 2009 and the University of South Carolina Young Alumni of the Year in 2005.
Away from journalism, Strickland volunteers with Guardian ad Litem with Richland County CASA and is on the board of the Workshop Theater. She also works as a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Her passion for serving people in the Midlands through WLTX is only outweighed by her passion for community service.
