Darren Peck Biography
Darren Peck is an American Emmy Award-Winning meteorologist working for KPIX5. He previously forecasted weather at KING 5 in Seattle.

Peck is a meteorologist who had also worked for other stations prior to joining KPIX5. Previously, he worked for KING 5 in Seattle where he served as a weather forecaster and served the station for seven years. Prior to KING5, he spent some time working for r FOX40 News in Sacramento where he served as a weekday meteorologist. He has been working as a meteorologist for about two decades and hence has managed to work for many stations all over the states.
The stations he has worked for include his very first job at KNAZ-TV in Flagstaff, Arizona, and Orange County NewsChannel. He also spent some time working for KVVU FOX 5 in Las Vegas. Peck attended California State University, Northridge where he attained his degree in Physical Geography with a focus in Climatology and Geomorphology.
Peck has also managed to win several awards including two Emmy awards for on-air performance. He is also a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) by the American Meteorologist Society (AMS). The CBM designation is sought as a mark of professional distinction and recognition. He says, “Having grown up in LA, Northern California stole my heart early. After my first visit to Yosemite when I was 19, I was determined to never leave and spent the next two summers living and working in the park.”
Peck’s love and passion for the weather came about during the summers and was inspired to better understand the beauty of the natural world. Geomorphology is the study of why Earth’s landscapes look the way they do. It was studying the atmosphere’s role in shaping our world that would end up inspiring him the most, becoming a life-long pursuit. He also says, “Even if I didn’t have this job,” I’d still study the weather in the morning and talk to anybody who’d listen to me about it for the rest of the day.” Additionally, he is very active on his social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. He is so glad to be working in such a career and for him, it is nothing but a dream come true.
