Dave Walls Biography
Dave Walls is an American journalist working for WSET as the leader of the ABC 13 Sports Department. He joined the station in March 2014 and has served the station for over a decade.
Dave Walls Education
Walls joined the University of Delaware in 1995 when he finished his studies at John Dickinson High School. He studied Communications there until 1997, when he transferred to Liberty University. In 1999, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. At Liberty University, he worked as the sports director of 90.9 FM – WWMC from 1998 to 1999. He also worked as a sports broadcaster for most college sports, including women’s basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, and softball.

Walls works for WSET as the leader of the ABC 13 Sports Department. He is happy to live and work in the Heart of Virginia. Besides reporting, he also anchors all of the station’s sportscasts and serves as executive producer and host of the “Football Friday” and “Full Court Press” programs.
Walls has broadcasted some major sporting events, including covering the NCAA Women’s Final Four in Philadelphia in 2000, being a national radio correspondent for the Little League World Series in 2003, Frank Beamer’s final win as head coach of Virginia Tech at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana in December 2015, Virginia’s Final Four and National Championship in 2019, and many high school state championships and college football bowl games.
Walls and WSET have won numerous honors from the Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters and the Virginia Association of Broadcasters. In 2022, he won the Virginia Associated Press Best TV Sports Anchor Award and a Virginia Association of Broadcasters Broadcaster Outstanding Sports Coverage Award. He joined the Appomattox County School Board’s Media Honor Roll in 2021 for covering of the student athletes in the county.
Walls kickstarted his career in Lynchburg, doing radio play-by-plays for Liberty University sports, regional radio stations, and broadcasting Appomattox and Heritage football, including the Pioneers’ initial state championship in an unbeaten 2002 season in Delaware.

Walls worked for WDEL-AM and WSTW-FM as a traffic reporter. The readers of Delaware Today magazine nominated him as “Best of Delaware” for his reports. He also worked for WDEL as a news and sports anchor and fill-in talk show host. He was a writer, TV play-by-play announcer, and podcast host for the National Lacrosse League. In this role, he broadcasted action on TV in the United States and in Canada for multiple years before returning to Lynchburg and joining the ABC 13 team.
Besides his TV work, Walls has been a voice over artist for many of the commercials on TV and Radio. He even worked as the co-host and announcer of the national tour of the live game show, “The Price is Right Live!
