David Nussbaum Biography
David Nussbaum is an American Meteorologist working with CBS42 News where he serves the station as a morning and noon meteorologist. He joined the CBS42 Storm Team in January 2021 after previously working at WWL-TV as a Meteorologist.
David Nussbaum Education
In 1993, Nussbaum joined North Allegheny High School where he graduated in 1997. Later on, he joined PennWest California where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Earth Science and Operational Meteorology in 2001. In addition, he has also studied at Mississippi State University where he graduated in 2003 with a Master of Science in Geoscience and Broadcast Meteorology.

Nussbaum works with the CBS42 News team where he serves the station as a morning and noon meteorologist. He states that he is very passionate about the weather and that there will be plenty for him to cover at CBS42. David also states that he hopes the viewers will trust him and his forecasts as they did in New Orleans.
He says that Birmingham is a wonderful city and a great place to raise his son. This is in addition to stating that he can’t wait to move with his family there. His interest in television sparked at an early age. He is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is happy to be living in the “Pittsburgh of the South.”
Nussbaum goes on to further describe that he has wanted a career in television since he was in fourth grade. He says that he went from being afraid of storms and now chasing them. He was motivated by a deep passion for weather and took advantage of an on-camera experience received through a position as high as the school’s first weatherman. His interest in the weather did not stop in his high school newsroom.
Prior to joining CBS42, the head interned at WPXI-TV in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It wasn’t long before he later became the morning meteorologist at WSEE-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania. After this, he made the transition to South Louisiana and became the morning and noon meteorologist at WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge for about 10 years.
While there, he also won the title of Best Weathercast by the Louisiana Associated Press in the year 2008. The year 2014 saw him make a trek down Interstate 10 to New Orleans where he was working as a morning meteorologist at WWK-TV for nearly 7 years. He was then awarded Best Weathercast again in the year 2015. He also weathered some of South Louisiana’s worst hurricanes from Katrina to Gustav and the crazy 2020 hurricane season.
Nussbaum has earned the prestigious”Seal of Approval” from the American Meteorological Society. He is a proud member of the National Weather Association, and American Meteorological Society, and an Eagle Scout. He is very active on social media and one can feel free to follow him.
