Dennis O’Donnell Biography
Dennis O’Donnell is an American Emmy Award-Winning journalist working for KPIX5 serving as a Sports anchor. He joined the station back in August 2000.
Dennis O’Donnell Career
O’Donnell appears Sunday through Thursday on KPIX 5 news. He has also managed to win several awards ever since he started his career as a journalist. For instance, he won four APTRA awards for Best Sports Segment and is also a multiple Northern California Emmy Award winner including Emmys for his work as a feature reporter and as a Sports anchor. He has been a fixture in Bay Area sports broadcasting since 1982, having enclosed the main r Bay Area sports team in their respective championship.
O’Donnell had also worked for other stations prior to joining KPIX5. He previously worked for KRON-TV where he served as an executive sports producer. He spent 13 seasons as the pre-season voice of the San Francisco 49ers and is also serving as the sideline reporter. Throughout his career, he has done basketball and football play-by-play for Comcast Sports Network, KPIX, Bay TV, and Fox Sports. While at KRON, his contributions assisted earn the station the honor of “The Best Sports Cast in California” by the Associated Press on five separate occasions. He has also anchored sports with KFTY in Santa Rosa and KOVR in Sacramento along with his work at KRON.
O’Donnell also KPIX 5 ‘s NFL post-game show “The 5th Quarter,” “49ers Preview,” “Last Honest Sports Show,” and the number-one-rated Sunday night sports show, “Gameday” every Sunday night at 11:30 pm. Additionally, he is the emcee for all major Northern California Alzheimer’s events, including the San Francisco Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Memories in the Making. O’Donnell attended San Francisco State University where he graduated. He is also very active on his social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Whenever he is not working he enjoys spending some time with the foundations and organizations that he is in as well as enjoying the outdoors.
