In 1988, he joined WCVB as a weekend sports anchor and reporter. In 2000, he took over as co-anchor of the EyeOpener newscast and added co-anchor of the 11 pm newscasts in 2004. Ed helped launch WCVB’s NewsCenter 5 at 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm in January 2016 when WCVB added those newscasts to its lineup. Prior to joining WCVB, he worked at WISH-TV as a sports director and principal sports anchor. There, he anchored and produced the 6 pm and 11 pm sportscasters, co-produced, and reported the station’s annual ‘Indy 500’ special, and was producer and host of The Colts Today, the NFL Indianapolis Colts coach’s show.

For three years, he worked for WIBC Radio where he provided live reports and color commentary for Colts games. Prior to joining WISH, he was a sports director and anchor for WDSU-TV from 1978 to 1981. For one year, he served as an assistant sports director and weekend anchor for KMSP-TV. Moreover, he was a sports director and anchor for WPTZ-TV from 1975 to 1977.
