Emily Scarlett is an American journalist working for WZZM as an anchor and reporter since joining the station in May 2021. Previously, she worked for WIS as an anchor and reporter for 4 years.

Scarlett joined the University of Michigan in 2006 when she finished her high school education. In 2010, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Media Studies. During college, she was involved with the NAACP and the Indigo Dance team.
In 2008, she served the university as an English course assistant for a summer. There, she facilitated weekly workshops to help students refine their writing skills. Also, she interned at Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Michigan and WDIV. Further, she anchored and reported at MacDonald Broadcasting in Lansing, Michigan.

Scarlett works for WZZM as an anchor and reporter. In this role, she anchors on weekdays from 4:30 to 7:00 a.m. She is thrilled to work in Michigan after working out of state for almost a decade. Her broadcasting career started when she served at a Lansing radio station after she graduated college.
Scarlett’s TV journey began when in Montana where she anchored a 9 p.m. newscast at KFBB. She then moved to the Midwest where she served WHBF in the Quad Cities as a morning anchor. She explored the Southeast for the first time before joining WIS in South Carolina as an anchor and reporter.
Scarlett’s passion for journalism and storytelling started when she was younger. She worked at her elementary school as a morning announcer and would play games where she copied with her sisters and cousins.
While in middle school, she served the Southfield Eccentric newspaper as a student columnist. Even though she had a history with journalism, she had still not thought of venturing into the broadcasting industry. This changed when she applied for college.
