Eric Burke is an American meteorologist working for WAFF as a weekday morning meteorologist since he was promoted in 2022. He joined the station in September 2017 as a weekend meteorologist.

Burke joined Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, after finishing his high school education. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology with a minor in Broadcast Journalism.
During his time in college, he was a meteorologist and reporter for NTC News Tonight, the student-run TV station. He also interned at WREX in Rockford and at WFLD Fox Chicago before moving to the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Burke worked as the weekday morning meteorologist at KNBN in Rapid City, South Dakota, before moving to Kentucky. While growing up, he was always fascinated with severe weather and winter storms.

Heather was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a treatable form of cancer, in early October 2024. On December 21, 2024, he shared his wife’s diagnosis and thanked people for their supports via a Facebook post, captioned, “Life certainly has been eventful for the Burkes the past few months. In early October my wife, Heather, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Thankfully, this a very treatable form of cancer. The outpouring of love and support from our families and friends…” In that same post, he shared that she had completed four chemotherapy treatments and was to wrap up the other eight treatments in April 2025.
Away from the newsroom, Burke is an avid golfer who can often be spotted on a local golf course. During his free time, he travels with his wife, tries new barbecue/smoker recipes in his backyard, or plays goalie in a recreational ice hockey league. He is is a Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs fan.
