Erica Simon is a notable American Journalist currently working for ABC13 as an Anchor/Reporter. She has been working at ABC13 since November 2017. There, she anchors the 10 pm. In addition to her broadcasting career, she is a VP of Multimedia at Houston Association of Black Journalists Inc. since January 2019. Since January 2020, she has been a ROSES Mentor at Houston ISD. From February 2015 to May 2016, she was a Mentor at Lakeshore Middle School.

At the station, she received two Emmy nominations – one for team coverage spot news and one for team coverage during Hurricane Matthew.
Prior to that, she was a Reporter at KTAL from July 2008 to July 2010. At the station, she was responsible for developing, writing, and delivering new stories for the NBC station in Shreveport/Texarkana DMA. From April 2007 to May 2008, she was a Reporter/Morning Cut-Ins Anchor at KOMU-TV. Prior to that, she was a Student Worker at Missouri Athletics from October 2005 to May 2008. There, she was responsible for stat keeping and post-game interviews for football, softball, volleyball, and women’s basketball. Erica was a Newsroom Intern at KXAS from June 2007 to August 2007 where she assisted the assignments manager with calls, story ideas, and the daily flow of the assignment desk. Also, she went out with photographers and reporters for packages and gathering videos and interviews.
From June 2006 to August 2006, she was an Intern at the Big 12 Conference. As an intern there, she helped with the construction of media guides and the daily flow of the office and assisted the director of Communications. She got her journalism start in her hometown of Dallas where she won numerous Young Authors Contests and showcased her charisma in plays at Duncanville High School. Some of her most memorable interviews include NFL wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and civil rights icon Andrew Young. Outside of work, one of her biggest passions is service. She has thus mentored teen girls for years and gone on three international mission trips. While in Costa Rica, she helped feed an entire village and take care of the Sunday school kids at their sister congregation.
