Erik Johnson is an American meteorologist working for KIVI as an evening and weekend weather forecaster since joining the station in March 2023. Previously, he worked as a reporter and meteorologist at KRTV in Great Falls, Montana for 2 years.
Erik Johnson Education
Johnson studied Culinary Arts/Chef Training at Morris County School of Technology from 2012 to 2016. He then joined the State University of New York at Oswego in 2016. In 2020, he graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Atmospheric Science with minors in Communication and Social Interaction.
During college, he studied under Al Roker, an Oswego alumni and Today Show meteorologist. He also traced multiple intense lake-effect snow storms during his time at SUNY Oswego. He also interned at Spectrum News in New York and WIS.

During his first month reporting for KRTV, he broadcasted a prairie fire that abruptly moved into a small Ag community in central Montana and ruined over 50 structures. He and the rest of the community had to flee the town.
One of his favorite memories in Montana was returning to the Ag community a year later and commemorating the town’s progress since the fire. He has also worked as a meteorologist in Utica, New York. He even worked at a STEM school near Hartford as a middle school teacher.
