Erik Runge is an American Reporter for WGN TV and WGN Radio. He has been working at WGN News since joining in November 2013 as a per diem reporter.
Runge attended the University of Iowa where he studied and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Political Science in 1999.

Before working at WGN, He spent three years as a general assignment reporter at Fox 9 Minneapolis, Minnesota. Runge spent several years in central Kansas where he covered the story of a serial killer named ‘BTK’, which stands for Bind Torture Kill. Runge’s work has been seen on NBC Nightly News and he has as well reported live for MSNBC after Hurricane Ike crashed into Galveston, Texas. Runge most recently covered governmental shutdowns, a statehouse protest that lasted for weeks, and several natural disasters including tornados, hurricanes, blizzards, and wildfires.
