Garrett Haake is an American two-time Emmy award-winning Senior Capitol Hill Correspondent working for NBC News. His career began in 2008 as a desk assistant at NBC Nightly News.

Prior to joining the MSNBC team in May 2017, he worked for KSHB-TV in Kansas City, Missouri. During his working time there, he served as a reporter and fill-in anchor. He has covered everything from crime, weather, scandal, and politics throughout his career. He traveled to Kandahar in the fall of 2014. While there, he reported and shot an hour-long documentary about the end of the United States’ involvement in the war in Afghanistan.
Prior to joining the KSHB-TV News team, he was an embedded reporter on the 2012 presidential campaign for NBC News. He also reported from roughly 36 states and covered the Mitt Romney presidential campaign, in 2012 for 18 months. On May 31, 2020, he reported from Washington, D.C. during protests near the White House caused by the death of George Floyd. A few hours after her birth, Lanie had some trouble breathing and she was closely monitored by the medical team. “She spent a few days under the expert watch of the Special Care Nursery at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, to whom her parents will be eternally grateful, before coming home on Saturday,” Haake said. The family resides in Washington D.C.

Lanie gave us a scare at first, and spent her first few days under the loving watch of the Sibley Special Care Nursery, working on her breathing, and charming everyone who met her with her blonde hair & sugary-sweet attitude. I’m so grateful to the Hospital staff, and especially to Allison for her heroic labor & delivery, and her love and patience now as a mom. Welcome, Lanie. Your dad loves you so, so much.
