Janelle Stelson is a well-reputed American Emmy Award-winning Journalist working as an Anchor for WGAL TV. There, she co-anchors WGAL News 8 at 4 pm, News 8 at 5 pm, and 5:30 pm, and News 8 at 11 pm each weeknight. She joined WGAL in 1997. Her strong commitment to the community includes speaking to numerous groups, serving on the board of directors for the Humane League of Lancaster County, and working closely with the American Cancer Society and American Red Cross among other organizations. She has been repeatedly named “Best News Anchor” by the Annual reader poll for Senior News of Lancaster County and Dauphin County.

Janelle began her journalism career at WHTM-TV in Harrisburg where she worked as a reporter and weather anchor. She then moved to Miami in 1989 to work for WPLG-TV where she covered everything from hurricanes to Haitian riots and one of the biggest drug busts in U.S. history.
Then she returned to Susquehanna Valley to anchor the 6 and 11 pm newscasts for WHP-TV in Harrisburg. Also, she worked with WITF public radio, hosted a statewide public television broadcast with the governor of Pennsylvania, and anchored “Computer Chronicles” on PBS. Her first job was writing speeches at the Embassy of Egypt in Washington, D.C. Her most memorable stories include: Traveling to Kosovo to chronicle the PA National Guard’s involvement and a Lancaster County General who was in charge of the NATO Peacekeeping forces there. Also, she was delivering supplies and flying over the still smoldering twin towers in New York City in an open military helicopter after the September 11th attacks.
Because of her educational and family background, she especially enjoys politics — having covered every US President since Jimmy Carter. Among her favorite interviews are: British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Senator and presidential contender John McCain, President Joe Biden in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, and Paul McCartney.
