Jennifer Leigh Biography

Jennifer Leigh is an American News Anchor working for WFLA since joining the station in 1993. She anchors News Channel 8 on weeknights at 5, 5:30, 7 & 11 pm. Leigh helped open News Channel 8’s Polk County bureau in 1995 and began reporting full-time.

In July 2012, WFLA launched 8 @ 7, and Leigh started full-time, weeknight anchoring for the station. Back in the month of December 2014, the station announced she would take over anchoring duties for the 11 pm newscast. In June 2015, she started anchoring the 5 pm & 5:30 pm newscasts replacing longtime anchor Gayle Sierens who retired after 38 years with the station.

She serves on the Board of Volunteers In Service to the Elderly (VISTE) which is a non-profit organization in her hometown of Lakeland. Additionally, she served as honorary chair of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year Campaign and also as the LLS Light the Night Walks in both Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties. When it comes to her education, she attended the University of South Florida where she graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications.
