Jim Howard Biography
Jim Howard is an American meteorologist working for WITN as a weekday morning meteorologist. He joined the station in 2001 as a morning meteorologist and has served the station for over two decades.

Howard joined Florida State University after finishing his high school education. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology.

His father would always tell him, “There’s gonna be weather, whether or not,” whenever he would start talking about his weather. He experienced a lot of snow while growing up in Poughkeepsie and now experiences hurricanes, as he lives in North Carolina.
One of the events that fueled his desire to learn more about the Earth’s atmosphere was his first time flying into West Palm Beach. While looking out the airplane window, he told his mother that there was snow on the ground. When he stepped off the plane, he discovered that what he thought was snow was sand, not to mention the hot air that felt like a furnace.
After graduating from college, Howard launched his career in Panama City, Florida, where he was a morning meteorologist. Despite his excitement for his first job, he quickly learned that he had to readjust his alarm clock from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thus, he incorporated strong coffee and cold showers into his regular morning routine. By 2001, he had become a “morning” person and accepted the opportunity to be a meteorologist for WITN-7 News at Sunrise.
Howard found Eastern Carolina the best location for him, since he has family living in New York and Florida. Working at WITN has proved rewarding to him, as he has met kind and generous people in the region, and the weather in the region always has his toes.
