Joanne Feldman Biography

Joanne Feldman is an American Emmy Award-winning meteorologist working at FOX 5 Atlanta since joining the station in 2007. She covers the weather every weekday on Good Day Atlanta.

Joanne Feldman Education

Feldman is a proud graduate of Lassiter High School. She attended the University of Georgia and studied meteorology, where she graduated with a  Bachelor of Science degree in Geography. Feldman graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She then went to the master’s program in Meteorology at Penn State University on a scholarship from the American Meteorological Society.

Feldman’s broadcasting career started when she was one of two graduate students selected to forecast for Penn State’s daily weather magazine, “Weather World” – a film that has astonishingly followed all across the state of Pennsylvania. She later headed to Fresno, California to work at KMPH, and later KFSN, as the weekend meteorologist.

Not long after making the move to KFSN, Feldman became the news anchor for the station’s top-rated morning show. After several years honing both her broadcasting and forecasting skills, Feldman was promoted to WTVD in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina. She spent five years there as the Chief Meteorologist covering tornado outbreaks, a historic ice storm, and several hurricanes.

While in Atlanta, Feldman has been honored with three Emmy Awards – one for best weathercaster in the Southeast, and two for specialty reports on the weather. She was voted “Favorite Weathercaster in Atlanta” by the readers of Jezebel Magazine in 2011. She as well holds the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society. This is the highest designation offered to broadcasters after they have proven scientific competency and passed a rigorous exam.

In April 2019, she helped launch the 10 a.m. hour of Good Day Atlanta, where she co-hosts covering the day’s lifestyle and entertainment news. During her free time, Feldman can be found in a ballet class, running, spending time with her husband, and their two children, and watching any good movie so many times that she knows the lines by heart.
