Joey Lamar is an American journalist working for WSAV as the sports director. Previously, he served WCTV in Tallahassee as sports director and weekday sports anchor at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m.

Lamar joined Clark Atlanta University in 2005 when he finished his high school education at Martin Luther King, Jr. High School. In 2010, he graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting. In 2013, he joined Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis where he graduated with a Master’s degree in Sports Journalism. Before his sports journalism career began, he worked as an intern at USA Track & Field, WLFI-News 18 in West Lafayette, and WRTV in Indianapolis.

Before working in Tallahassee, he worked in Bismarck, North Dakota at KXMB as the sports director for nearly 3 years. He is thought of as the first African American to work as a sports director in North Dakota history. He enjoyed working in the Peace Garden State for three years.
Before serving KXMB, he served the Great Falls and Helena areas as an anchor and reporter at KFBB. There, he broadcasted high school and college sports. Prior to that, he worked for WFXL in Albany as a weekday sports anchor. Besides anchoring five days a week, he worked as a department manager.
