Tina Tyus-Shaw is an American journalist working for WSAV as a weeknight news anchor at 4, 5, 6, 10, and 11 p.m. She joined the station in 1992 as a reporter and weekend anchor and has served the station for more than 3 decades.

On April 6, 2022, she celebrated her 30th anniversary at the station. On this day, she was inducted into the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame and won a GABBY Best Anchor Award from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.
After graduating college, she worked for TV and radio stations in Macon, The Outer Banks of North Carolina, and Columbus, Georgia. Her passion for serving the community was sparked when she broadcasted education and breaking news from the field.
During her career, Tyus has broadcasted and been a part of some historic moments. In 1996, she served as the Savannah torchbearer for the 1996 Olympic Torch Run across Georgia. In this role, she continued her family’s Olympic tradition began with her Aunt, Wyomia Tyus, a two-time 100-meter gold medalist in 1964 and 1968.
Tyus is committed to assisting people to live better lives and holds pride in the Buddy Check 3 Breast Cancer Awareness Program. Every third of each month, she and others do the breast self-exam which she believes is helping to save lives and making a difference.

In April 2001, Tyus experienced pain all day long while working at WSAV. Persevering through the pain, she finished her work and returned home at midnight. She still experienced pain and her husband insisted that she should visit the hospital. At 2 a.m., they went to the hospital where she delivered stillborn twin sons, James and Julius.
James and Julius were born on April 5, 2001, weighing just over one pound. The twins were buried at are buried at Hunter Army Airfield. After the event, she spent four months away. She says that the event was the most devastating thing to happen in their lives. She talked about the experience in the book, “Shift Happens: Inspirational Stories on Finding Happiness Achieving Success and Overcoming Obstacles.”
