Joey Marino Biography

Joey Marino is an American Meteorologist working with WTVO-TV where he serves the station as a Weekend Meteorologist/Photojournalist. He has been working with the Eyewitness News team since December 2018. 

Joey Marino Career

Marino works with WTVO-TV where he serves the station as a Weekend Meteorologist / Photojournalist a role he took prior to being made the Morning Meteorologist. He joins the station from the small town of Effort, PA. When he was about 7 years old, he began watching Storm Stories where his idol Meteorologist then was Jim Cantore on the Weather Channel and he was instantly hooked on weather.

On his birthday in the year 2009, an EF-2 tornado touched down about 15 minutes from his house in the Poconos. He states that that was the day mother nature was telling him that meteorology was going to be his life.

He is a proud graduate of Millersville University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology in the month of December 2018. When he was at Millersville, Joey participated in Campus Weather Service as both a Lead forecaster and Streaming Video Forecaster. The year 2016 saw him intern at WGAL with the News 8 Storm Team.

Asides from this, he and a few collogues formed a storm chase team called Echo Top Storm Chasers. In the Spring of 2016, he and the team took a trip out to the alley to experience severe weather at its most intense. He states that they experienced 17 tornadoes which include the massive EF-4 Chapman, KS wedge tornado. Marino states that when mother nature presents a storm chase opportunity, he packs his gear and hits the road.

Away from work, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and generally being in the great outdoors. He also enjoys going on long adventures with his fiancé Gina and their puppy “child” Kasey. Asides from this, he is a big fan of the New York Yankees, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Dallas Cowboys.
