John Stehlin Biography
John Stehlin is an American meteorologist working for WICU as a nightly meteorologist Monday through Friday on Erie News Now. He joined the station in 2012 and has served the station for more than a decade. His first stint with the station was from August 1992 to 1995 where he worked as a news reporter and fill-in news anchor. In 2001, he came back to the station as a fill-in before rejoining the station in 2012 as a weekend weather forecast.

Stehlin works for WICU as a nightly meteorologist Monday through Friday on Erie News Now. His first stint with the station was from August 1992 to 1995 where he worked as a news reporter and fill-in news anchor. In 1993, he moved to weather for the newly launched 12News at Sunrise morning show.
Stehlin left Erie in 1995 and joined WXLV in Winston Salem, North Carolina where he did weekend weather. He did morning weather at WOIO in Cleveland, was the chief forecaster at KYW in Philadelphia, and did weekend and weekday morning weather at KNBC in Los Angeles.
Stehlin worked as the weekday weather and morning show host at WROC in Rochester, New York. He regularly filled in national weather anchor for CBS This Morning. In 2001, he came back to WICU as a fill-in before rejoining the station in 2012 as a weekend weather forecast.
During his career, Stehlin has received multiple awards for his journalism work. For instance, he won a Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters’ first-place award during the early 90’s for his series about universal health care Erie News Now, which he produced and reported. In Philadelphia, he worked with the 5 p.m. news team that won an Emmy award.
Hollywood noticed his skills and gave him a feature role in two movies, Bruce Almighty and Open House, while in Los Angeles. He played a voice acting role in an episode of ABC’s According to Jim. In Erie, he’s worked as the boy’s varsity soccer coach for the Fort LeBoeuf Bisons and participated in regional Boy Scout activities. On a side note, he is an Eagle Scout.
