Karina Nova Biography
Karina Nova is an Emmy-winning American Anchor/Producer/Reporter working with KGO-TV/ABC7 News where he serves the station as an anchor/producer. He has been working with the station since January 2022 and was previously working at 10TV where she was serving the station as a weekday morning anchor/reporter from 2006 when she joined the station.

In 2002, she joined Kent State University where she graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs. While there, she interned for C-SPAN, a U.S. senator, and the Voice of America in one of her favorite cities, Washington, D.C.

She spent most of her time in Ohio despite being a Californian by heart. For her, the ocean, beautiful parks, and wineries are her happy place. She was born in Baku, Azerbaijan before her family emigrated to the United States when she was 8 years old and they ended up settling in Northwest Ohio in a small town on the shores of Lake Ere. This is where she learned to speak English although she continued to speak her native Russian at home.
She discovered her love for journalism at a young age. Her persistent curiosity and love for hearing people’s stories and passion for learning and sharing the news of world events were what made her want to become a reporter. She began her professional career hosting a civic-focused news program on PBS. Her next job was working as a traffic reporter at WBNS News in Columbus, Ohio which was the beginning of a 15-year-long career at WBNS, first working her way up to the role of general assignment reporter and then to the role of weekday morning anchor.
She says that she truly enjoyed becoming a part of the community and is particularly proud of the fact-checking stories as part of the VERIFY team’s efforts to stop the spread of misinformation. He was honored to win an Emmy for the breaking news coverage of a massive train derailment, spending a total of 7 hours that day in the helicopter, shooting a video and reporting on the disaster.
During his fifteen years in Columbus, he loved spending time volunteering and emceeing events for a number of nonprofit organizations. She is a proud big sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters and was on the board of the Columbus Fashion Council and Fairy Godmothers. Away from work, she enjoys spending time outside.
She had the incredible position as the Metro Parks spokesperson, helping people discover nature and all there is to do at the public parks. She is happy to discover all of the parks in Northern California and take paddleboards out on the water. Away from work, she also enjoys traveling the world, seeing her adorable nieces and nephews, and eating delicious foods. She says she would love to hear a Bay Restaurant recommendation.
