Tracy Townsend is an American Emmy Award-winning Anchor working with 10TV/WBNS-TV where he serves the station as a co-anchor for Wake Up CBUS. Additionally, she anchors 10TV’s noon newscasts.

Townsend works with 10TV news where she serves the station as a co-anchor for Wake Up CBUS weekdays every weekday. She is 10TV’s Medical Correspondent covering health issues affecting families. Among them includes breakthroughs and helpful tips for families. Asides from that, she is a 2016-2017 Fellow designate of the Center for Excellence in Health Care Journalism and a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists.

Asides from that, she works with 10TV Productions on “Toward A Cancer Free World” which is a weekly segment featuring the world-renowned experts at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center- James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. These segments are somewhat personal to Tracy as she is a breast cancer survivor. Her journey began in the fall of 2010 at the same time she was starting to lead 10TV’s political coverage.

She is a firm believer that once a person is told of the diagnosis, he/she becomes a survivor. Tracy began aggressively researching and advocating for her health and healing. She is a staunch advocate for mammography as her own cancer was discovered early allowing for aggressive treatment and recovery. Additionally, she believes and follows the guidelines that women should get mammograms every year starting at the age of 40 as long as a woman in good health.

She happens to be an outspoken advocate for women’s health using several platforms to encourage women to make fitness a lifestyle, get yearly screening, and engage in self-care. Townsend puts this passion into action by supporting Komen Columbus and its Race for the Cure.

She hits the roads on her bicycle in Pelotonia, the grassroots bike tour aimed at raising money for cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. Townsend did her first ride after her surgery in 2011 putting in 25 miles. Till today, she has participated in the effort, completed the 100-mile Pelotonia route, and met fundraising goals.

She led 10TV’s coverage of Campaign 2012: Race for the White House. Additionally, she also did interviews with President Barack Obama, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, and Vice President Joe Biden. She and her team won several awards for their work including the prestigious  Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism in the year 2013 for their voter-education efforts preceding the 2012 primary and general elections.

She grew up in Cincinnati and is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University. Prior to joining WBNS-TV, she worked at WBBM-TV located in Chicago, WKRC-TV located in Cincinnati, and KCTV located in Kansas City. She is an Emmy-Award-winning news anchor, a 2016-2017 Fellow of the Association of Health Care Journalists, and a 2017 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards Winner.

She is an active graduate member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Radio Television Digital News Association(RTDNA), and the National Association of Black Journalists(NABJ). Additionally, she is also active in The Links, Incorporated, an international, not-for-profit corporation that is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer women’s service organizations.
