Before joining WAOW News 9 team, she served as a reporter and anchor at WPBN in Traverse City, Michigan for two years. Her love for broadcast journalism started at a young age. And her mom recalls Kathryn as a child was fascinated by the human-passion stories on the local news over cartoons. Also, she was a member of numerous broadcast organizations while at Central Michigan University, including their award-winning news station, News Channel 34.

Then she interned at News Channel Nebraska where she covered everything from agriculture to murder cases to politics. Her stories have inspired a lot of people and ordinary individuals have overcome obstacles to accomplish extraordinary feats. She once reported a story of a sixteen-year-old burn survivor in Michigan who survived and would have lost his voice indefinitely without a $150,000 surgery since insurance would not cover it. After covering the story, this saw the community come together and raise money for the boy in just three days. During her leisure time when she is not reporting or anchoring, she enjoys her summers waterskiing at her grandparents’ lake house near Minocqua.
