Kelly Simek is an American meteorologist working for KHON2 as the host of Living808 since she was promoted in February 2022. Before that role, she worked as a news anchor for over 4 years. She joined the station in July 2014 as a meteorologist for Wake Up 2day.

Kelly Simek Education

Simek joined the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2011 after finishing her education at La Costa Canyon High School. In 2014, she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Meteorology. Also, she studied journalism, communications, and geography.

While in college, she was involved with the UH Marching Band, Cancer Free Hawaii, Colleges Against Cancer, SPJ, PRSSA, and the American Cancer Society. Also, she worked as a meteorology at KITV4 More Local News.

Simek served as the University of Hawaii’s featured baton twirler and frequently performed with the band at football, basketball, and volleyball games. She recently joined the university’s graduate program, where she will continue to study meteorology.

Besides enjoying the class, she found the field fascinating because she excelled in math and science, subjects essential to it. She also realized that she would continue helping and informing the public with her new interest by reporting the weather. The former Miss East Oahu is familiar with being in front of an audience.
