She was born and raised in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and her passion for news and reporting began in the sixth grade. That’s when she was hand-picked by teachers to host their school news and announcement show on television for the first time (hello, the mid-90s). Her best friend’s father worked for the local newspaper, and she spent her childhood weekends at their house, maybe eavesdropping but definitely enjoying the political fights and current events discussions.
Keristen earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with a focus on television broadcasting from the University of Central Arkansas. Holmes began her career as a reporter at 40/29 News in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she worked until 2011.
She moved to KTBS 3 News in Shreveport, Louisiana, later in 2012. Holmes began her career at the station as an East Texas Bureau reporter/photographer and worked her way up to morning show anchor. She made the journey of a lifetime to beautiful Northern California in November 2017, joining ABC10 News in Sacramento.
Keristen can be found serving in the communities she serves when she isn’t chasing stories. “You can’t be what you can’t see,” she says. She swore to be a tangible role model for other small girls who, like her younger self, could be looking for someone to look up to for encouragement after growing up in a community where prospects for progress were severely limited.
She enjoys motivating the next generation to achieve their greatest potential by encouraging them to dream big. She’s also a big foodie who enjoys cooking, hiking, tennis, and pretty much anything else that gets her outside and enjoying San Diego’s great weather.
