Kevin Orpurt Biography
Kevin Orpurt is an American meteorologist working for WTHI as a meteorologist on weeknights on News 10 First @ Five, News 10 at 6 p.m., myFOX10, and News 10 Nightwatch. He joined the station in December 1982 in the promotion department and has served the station for more than 4 decades.

Orpurt joined Indiana State University when he finished his high school education. He later transferred to Vincennes University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree.

Orpurt works for WTHI as a meteorologist on weeknights on News 10 First @ Five, News 10 at 6 p.m., myFOX10, and News 10 Nightwatch. Upon joining the station, he first worked in the promotion department before moving to serve News 10 Midday as a host and meteorologist. Additionally, he did fill-in work on the nightly news. By 1985, he started doing weather full-time at the station.
Orpurt has broadcasted multiple important weather occasions like the snow and cold of January 2014, the Great Flood of 2008, and the drought of 1988. He also broadcasted several other occasions like bitter cold, tornadoes, and harsh thunderstorms.
At WTHI, Orpurt has won a couple of awards for his work including the Hamilton Award and the Abe Malooly Award for his work with United Cerebral Palsy of the Wabash Valley. Vincennes University gave him its Distinguished Alumni Award.
Orpurt holds the American Meteorology Society’s Seal of Approval. Further, he has received nominations for Best Weather Presentations from the Ohio Valley Emmys. The Indiana Broadcasters’ Association awarded him the Best Weathercast Award.
Before WTHI, Orpurt was a disc jockey for multiple radio stations. He launched his broadcasting career in Peru, Indiana at WARU when he was 15 years old. Ever since then, he has continued his broadcasting work.
