Nicolette Zangara Biography

Nicolette Zangara is an American weather forecaster working for KY3 as the weekday and weekend weather forecaster. Prior to joining KY3, she worked at WCJB where she also served as a weather forecaster. 

Chicagoland is her native home and in 2012, she joined Warren Township High School where she graduated with a diploma in 2016. Later on, she joined the University of Florida where she studied journalism and communications and later earned a degree in meteorology. However, she is looking forward to completing her degree at Mississippi State while she still works at KY3.

In addition, her passion for weather started even before she could matter a single word. Her Italian-immigrant grandfather pilot and he taught her the very basics of weather. Whenever there was a big storm, she would be found watching the big storm and she even made a weather book to record changing conditions.

Furthermore, while she resided in Gainesville, she joined the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network and the UF Weather team. During that time, she provided radio hits for NPR affiliates across Florida and did live hurricane coverage for the entire state. After graduating from the University of Florida, she secured a job at TV20 News where she served as the weekend weather forecaster. Zangara also worked at WCJB where she was an agricultural and weather reporter. During her spare time, she likes hiking, skating, and cooking.

Zangara was raised with two younger siblings, Brianna Zangara, and Giovanni Zangara. She is a granddaughter of Rudolph DePalma and Donna DePalma were Italian immigrants who moved to the U.S.A.

Her grandfather is a distinguished pilot, who taught her about storms, cloud types, and other weather phenomena with the help of weather books. In addition, she has two aunts, Ginny Meyer, and Marge Poteracki, and one uncle, Richard Cerami (via Nicolette’s mother).
