Lars Mikkelsen is a Danish actor who starred as Troels Hartmann, Copenhagen mayoral election candidate, in The Killing, Charles Augustus Magnussen in Sherlock Sn 3, Troels Hartmann, the Russian president, in House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels and Ahsoka. At the age of 27, he joined the National Theatre School of Denmark and graduated in 1985.

Aside from Danish, he fluently speaks Swedish, German, and English. Further, he has mastered several accents. He revealed that his brother picked up English after listening to Monty Python records and learning comedy sketches.
