Lauren Baker is an American journalist working for WZZM as an anchor and reporter since joining the station in October 2023. Previously, she worked in Greenville, North Carolina at WITN as a morning and midday anchor.

Baker joined Northern Illinois University in 2012 when she finished her high school education. In 2016, she graduated with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Journalism. She then joined the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University where she received her Master Of Science degree in Journalism.

Baker works for WZZM as an anchor and reporter. In this role, she anchors the weekend edition of 13 On Your Side and reports during the week. She is thrilled to return to the Midwest after working on the East Coast. She enjoys serving the community where she lives.

After working in Lansing, she relocated to Rockford, Illinois where she served WREX 13 News as a weekend anchor, thus launching her on-screen career. There, she reported on big reports including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Black Lives Matter Movement, and the huge Chemtool chemical plant fire.
Baker worked with her team in Rockford to win multiple awards at the local and national levels including a Regional Edward R. Murrow Best Breaking News Report Award and an Illinois News Broadcasters Association Best Station Award. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.
