Lauren Barnas is an American award-winning journalist who is a 4 p.m. anchor and 10 p.m. reporter for KRDO in Colorado Springs, CO. She previously worked at her home in Springfield, Missouri.

Barnas is a native of the Ozarks and graduated from Springfield’s Central High School. She then went and graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She then received her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Spanish.

While in school, Barnas won a Hearst Award for investigative reporting on a middle school student’s death by bullying, which resulted in legislative change and harsher oversight for Missouri schools. In Springfield, she worked as a morning news anchor for three years. Her reporting work on the tragic duck boat sinking on Table Rock Lake that killed 17 people earned her an Emmy nomination.

When she is not working, Barnas has a passion for exploring with her German Shepherd. She is thrilled to call Colorado Springs home and work on her skiing skills. She enjoys taking care of her two cats, her dog, and her veggie garden.
