Young has openly talked about living with endometriosis and uses her platforms to increase awareness and support for others with the condition. Additionally, she hosts an annual Endometriosis March. She was diagnosed with the condition in early 2019, undergoing endometriosis surgery in April 2019. During her time on The Bachelor, she said that she had stage 5 endometriosis, a severe form of the disease that significantly impacts fertility. As a result, she chose to freeze her eggs before filming.
On February 6, 2024, she went into details about living with the condition till she was diagnosed via a video on her Instagram account. In that video, she explained how she suffered from painful periods that persisted through high school and college.
Young started regular doctor visits after she fainted at work due to the pain while she was living in San Francisco. Her visit bore no fruit as she was faced and told that her pain was psychological. She then moved to New York, where she also had the same prognosis until she was diagnosed through laparoscopic surgery. The surgeon discovered stage IV deep infiltrating endometriosis spread throughout her pelvic cavity and other organs. Moreover, she shared photos of abdominal swelling known as “endo belly” and the progress of her treatment in that video.
