She was a news anchor and reporter for KERO-TV in Bakersfield, California, and WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas. She then went on to become one of the original anchors of ABC News’ World News Now with Aaron Brown when the show launched in 1992. However, in 1993, she left the show to serve as a host for Good Morning America Sunday, anchor and correspondent for Lifetime Magazine, and a reporter on ABC’s Day One. The following year, she moved to Los Angeles to work as an anchor for KABC-TV. Next, she was hired in 1997 to replace Joan Lunden as co-anchor of Good Morning America. Then, she was paired with Kevin Newman after Charles Gibson left the show in 1998.

However, Good Morning America which had been struggling in the ratings continued to perform poorly. In 1999, both Lisa and Newman were replaced and reassigned to other duties within ABC News. She then went on to work as a host and correspondent for California Connected from 2004 to 2007. This is a TV news magazine that aired on 12 PBS stations in California. During McRee’s tenure, their rating improved by 43% in her last year. But due to lack of funding, the program was canceled. She then began filling in as the co-anchor of Good Day L.A. on KTTV, the Fox-owned-and-operated television station in Los Angeles in February 2017.

This is a co-production of the Los Angeles Times and Spectrum News 1. He joined the station as an anchor. Among her favorite stories is her report titled “War Stories from Ward 7-d” which chronicled the dramatic stories of four veterans of the Iraq War who were treated at the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Polytrauma Unit. This story inspired Lisa’s ongoing passion for veterans and their families which is shown through the volumes of volunteer work she does today.
